Large Format Printers Florida

Wide-Format Printer Technician Jobs in Florida

Large Format Printers Florida contracts experienced wide-format printer technicians across the state. This is independent contract work, paid per completed job — not a salaried position. You choose which work orders you take, you set your own schedule, and you keep working for whoever else you already work for.

The role

What the work is

We are an independent service company for commercial wide-format printing equipment. Our customers are sign shops, print shops, wrap installers, textile printers and in-house print departments — the people whose business stops when a $40,000 printer stops.

What you do

  • On-site diagnostics, with a written findings report
  • Printhead, carriage, encoder and damper replacement
  • Calibration, alignment and nozzle recovery
  • Preventive maintenance and annual service
  • Installation, relocation and operator handover

What we handle

  • Finding and qualifying the customer
  • Quoting and invoicing — you never discuss price
  • Sourcing and paying for every part in advance
  • Scheduling and scope, agreed before you accept
  • Warranty conversations and follow-up

You do not need all of these. Depth on two or three is worth more to us than a shallow list.

Compensation

What it pays

$80 per hour on-site
plus $35 per hour of drive time

Every work order carries a fixed fee agreed before you accept it, so you know the number before you say yes. Finish under the scope cap and you keep the full fee — the structure pays experience, not hours.

Work orderScopeYou are paid
On-site diagnostic + written findingsup to 2 hrs$160
Standard repair, known fault, parts suppliedup to 2 hrs$160
Printhead / carriage / major assembly + calibrationup to 3 hrs$240
Preventive maintenance / annual serviceup to 2 hrs$160
Installation, relocation, setup + handoverup to 4 hrs$320
Each pre-approved hour beyond scope$80/hr
Round-trip drive time$35/hr
Customer no-access or cancellation inside 24 hrs$80 + drive
Referral bonus — your referral completes their 3rd job$250

With drive time folded in, that comes to roughly $50 to $80 per hour of your total time — nearer the top on in-metro work, nearer the bottom on a long drive.

You never buy parts and you are never asked to front money. We source and pay for every part before the job is scheduled. You are paid on the work, not on the parts. Invoices are paid net 15 days to your business account.

Requirements

Who we are looking for

Experience

  • Two or more years servicing commercial wide-format or production print equipment
  • Manufacturer training or certification on at least one platform — tell us which, and when
  • Real printhead, carriage and ink-system work — and the judgement to know when a fault is not the printhead
  • Comfortable with service manuals, calibration routines and nozzle checks

Setup

  • Your own tools, test equipment and vehicle. We do not supply tools
  • Professional on a customer’s floor — you may be standing next to their revenue
  • A clear written service report with photos, same day or next
  • Based within about 90 minutes of one of our metros

Onboarding

What you need in place

This is a business-to-business contract, so you need to be set up as a business. If you are not there yet, say so — most of this takes a few days and we will tell you exactly what is missing.

Your business

  • Registered business and an EIN, or documented sole-proprietor status
  • A business bank account — we pay the business, not an individual
  • A local business tax receipt, if your county or city requires one
  • Signed W-9 before your first payment

Your insurance

  • General liability, $1M / $2M, naming Large Format Printers Florida as additional insured
  • Commercial auto, $300,000 combined single limit
  • Workers’ compensation if you have employees of your own, or proof of non-construction sole-proprietor status

Coverage

Where we need technicians

We take work statewide and recruit by metro, so your drive times stay short and your effective rate stays high.

Somewhere else in Florida and you are good? Apply anyway — we would rather know you exist.

Process

How it works

  1. Apply — tell us your platforms, your certifications and your base city.
  2. Phone screen — about 20 minutes, technical, with a working tech’s questions.
  3. Onboarding — contract, W-9, insurance certificates, business documents.
  4. First paid work order — usually a diagnostic, so we both find out how we work together.
  5. Standing work — you go on the dispatch list for your metro. We send jobs; you accept the ones you want.

Straight talk

What we will not pretend about

  • It is contract work, not a salary. Volume in a given month depends on what comes in for your metro. This is designed to sit alongside your existing work — we would rather tell you now than have you find out in month two.
  • You are an independent contractor, not an employee. No benefits, no withholding, no paid time off. You carry your own taxes and insurance.
  • You can decline any job, for any reason, with no effect on what we send you next.
  • No exclusivity and no non-compete. You are free to work for anyone else, including our competitors, and we will never ask you to stop.
  • We are an independent service company. We are not an authorised service centre for HP, Epson, Roland, Canon, Mimaki or Mutoh, and we do not claim to be. We look for technicians who hold manufacturer training in their own right.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this a full-time job?

No. It is independent contractor work paid per completed work order. Take as many or as few as you want.

Do I need my own tools?

Yes — tools, test equipment and a vehicle. We supply the parts for every job; you supply everything else.

Do I ever have to buy parts?

Never. We source and pay for all parts before the job is scheduled, and you earn nothing on parts either way.

Can I keep my current employer or my own customers?

Yes. There is no exclusivity and no non-compete. The only limit is that you do not solicit the customers we introduce you to.

How fast do I get paid?

Net 15 days from your service report, paid to your business account.

What if I do not have insurance yet?

Apply anyway and say so. We will tell you exactly what to get — it is usually quick and inexpensive for a one-person service business.

I am experienced but not certified. Should I apply?

Yes. Certification helps, but demonstrated hands-on work on the platforms we service matters more.
